First, improper solar panel configuration is a prevalent issue. Some projects only focus on the total power of solar panels while ignoring voltage parameters. In practice, the total power of solar panels is recommended to be no less than 1.3 times the rated power of the pump. Meanwhile, it is necessary to verify that the VOC and VMP of solar panels meet the input requirements of the solar pump controller. Only when both power and voltage are well matched can the off-grid pump system operate steadily.
Second, the solar pump controller shall be mounted at a suitable location. The controller needs to be installed in a well-ventilated, dry area away from direct sunlight, with sufficient space reserved for heat dissipation. Excessively high ambient temperatures or inadequate protection may impair normal operation and shorten service life.
Cable installation also requires careful attention. Cables connecting solar panels, the controller and the pump shall adopt appropriate specifications, and all wiring connections must be firm and reliable. Outdoor wiring should be treated with waterproof, UV-resistant protection and secured properly to minimize environmental interferences to system operation.
For solar water pumps for agriculture and solar powered water well pump systems, the pump installation depth must be confirmed according to well depth, water level fluctuations and actual water demand, to prevent dry running caused by improper installation position. After installation, a trial run shall be carried out to check the operating status of the controller, water output and all parameters before formal commissioning.
